Four Month Check Up...

Joel had his four month check up on Friday. He's doing really well. He now weighs 16 lbs 12 oz!!! Needless to say, he doesn't miss any meals! The doctor said that his waking in the middle of the night so much(about every hour and a half) could be because he's not getting enough to eat. So, we officially put him on rice cereal every day as of Friday and he now only wakes up once a night! Yeh!!! Amazing how quickly that changed things.

He's been reaching most of his milestones ahead of the curve...obviously takes after his mother:)

Joel's Jollies

It's been a while since I've posted. So I thought I'd let you all know what I'm up to these days! I turned 16 weeks on Monday and I'm about 16 lbs.

My cousin Hudson taught me to chew on my hands and ever since our visit, I can't get enough of my fingers...mommy's glad because I'm using her as a pacifier less and less as the days go by:)

On Tuesday, I rolled over onto my side for the first time!!! I'm not sure if the rolling or mommy's shrieking was more exciting!

And, last but not least, I tried rice cereal for the first time this week. It's a little early, but I'm not willing to take a bottle and this way mom can leave me for an evening and I'll eat something. It was pretty messy the first couple times, but now I'm able to get a lot of it down.

I turn four months next Thursday...see you next time,
Joel

China, anyone?

One of the things I have been wanting is a set of neutral dishes for entertaining in the dining room. For our wedding, I didn't register for china and the dishes I picked out are mustard and wine(not neutral at all).

So, Sunday at church an older couple from our small group came up to me and asked if I have any china. After saying no, they asked if I would like a brand new 8-piece set of china. They proceeded to tell me how they found it at Sears for $30 each 4-piece set, on sale from $160. They purchased it knowing they would give it as a gift. Well, it turns out that none of their family members wanted it(having too much china already), so they thought we might want it.

I told them how awesome this was considering it's been a desire of mine for the last few months for new dishes!! I told them I'd gladly pay them and they refused and gave it as a gift. Once again, God is good:-)

Biggest Hoosier Week #3

So I am finding it tough to post every Tuesday because of my schedule, so just know that the post is coming sometime in the week. So this last week I weighed in at 250....212....221...225....215....222...218. The final # is 218 lbs...so I lost 0 pounds this week, so obviously I need to work a little harder. See you next week.

8 Interesting Facts

Well, I've been tagged by my sis-in-law, Beth, to give 8 interesting facts about myself. So, interesting or not, here goes:

1. I was born in Okinawa, Japan on a military base. My dad was in the Marines.

2. As a small child, I was petrified of the boogie man. I fully believed that if my feet were uncovered, he would grab them and suck me under the bed. Sad to say, but to this day I can NOT sleep without covers over my feet. Even if it's 12o degrees, you better believe there is at least a sheet over my feet!!!

3. My dad's name is Michael Myers-Of course everyone thought it was spooky!

4. I am a licensed Scuba Diver.

5. After high school, I tried college for a semester and it wasn't my thing at the time. So, a girlfriend and I worked really hard over the summer and saved up to go on a cross-country trip. I couldn't believe my dad and Janet let me go, but they supported it.

I saved up $3,000 and we went from Indiana to Colorado, to Wyoming, Idaho, Washington, Vancouver, Oregon, California, (Day trip to Mexico), Arizona and then home. It was a pretty amazing trip! We were gone a little over 2 months. I learned a lot about life.

6. After all that excitement, I still wasn't ready to be a normal 20 year old going to college and having a steady job. So instead, I took a job on the Delta Queen Steamboat out of New Orleans. A girlfriend of mine gave me a book called, "Jobs in Paradise". Right! More like jobs in H---!!! It was horrible!

We worked 14-16 hour days serving the rich cruise people and we lived on the very bottom of the boat in very close quarters, eating left overs from the day or two before(the wilted lettuce and stale bread were my favorite).

Anyways, I was a total sissy and couldn't handle it. I literally lasted a week. My parents were on a chartered scuba diving trip somewhere in the middle of who-knows-where sea. So my loving step-grandparents graciously bought me a plane ticket home and I quit. This is pathetic, but I lasted one week! Oh, and did I mention the rats & roaches:) Ahhh...memories.

7. Today is my 6th birthday as a Christian!

8. And last, but not least...my first job was at White Castle! That's right, White Castle...Yuck!!!

Manda have you been tagged? I didn't see 8 Interesting Facts on your blog?!?
