For the past year and a half I have been on a journey of learning to live with less and relying more on God's provision than ever before. Some of you may know that in October, we sold our Honda to pay off our other car and to be car payment free. It was a tough decision but Brian and I both felt like God was leading us to follow through with it. It has been nice to live a little simpler with only one car, but I still struggled with wanting another car. The struggle was enough that it stole my joy at times and I considered going back to work, even though it would break my heart to be away from Joel.
Anyhow, the past week or two, God has brought me to the point where I am totally content with the situation and I was able to say wholeheartedly to Him that if I never have another car again, I am happy to continue what we are doing and the sacrifices we are making for our child(ren).
On Tuesday morning, I heard a great message by Randy Alcorn based on his book Treasure Principle(which I've read, but it's been a long time)regarding Matthew 6:19-21...
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where theives do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
It was such sweet revelation...everything my eyes can see will not be here someday and I can not take any of it with me. What will stay behind is the legacy that lives in my children and others in our families, the lost, churches, neighborhoods, etc. Oh how He puts things into perspective!
So, as if that wasn't enough...simply seeing things the way He sees them...the very same day, Tuesday afternoon, we got a phone call from one of our Board Members who said they have a car they would like to give us!!! We met with them last night and settled everything. We are now the proud(humble) owners of a 1997 Toyota Camry in excellent condition, with 130,000 miles. I would post a pic but the owner took it to the shop today to get new brakes and a timing belt for us. I honestly am in shock. Brian and I are so thankful and grateful to our Lord. He is Faithful and an awesome provider!

Wow Tara. I didn't know that about the Honda. Where have I been? :) God is so good. This month has been a blessing for us as well. We had money saved for the trip to TN, but other things came up that we had to use it on. Anyways, we have a couple credit cards through Chase that were due the same week we are going on vacation, but when I read the statement, it said $0 payment due at this time. I was like what? So I called Chase and they said, due to the economy, they wanted to give their customers some breathing room and give them a free month to not pay, with no penalties attached. So that was free money right there for the trip. And then I got our Gas bill which is usually $200 every month (budget plan). And they said we are we owe nothing this month because we earned a credit. God is so good!! He is ALWAYS our provider.
That's awesome Tara. We had a couple things come up financially this week that were unexpected. It's hard to trust at times. Thanks again for the reminder that He is worthy of our trust and is ALWAYS faithful!
I love to hear stories like that. Very cool, Tara.
Praise God! He definitely is our Provider.
That's great Beth...I'm glad things came through. It wouldn't be the same without you guys!
God is good...ALL THE TIME!!! We have been a testimony to that as well!!!
