Well, I've been tagged by my sis-in-law, Beth, to give 8 interesting facts about myself. So, interesting or not, here goes:
1. I was born in Okinawa, Japan on a military base. My dad was in the Marines.
2. As a small child, I was petrified of the boogie man. I fully believed that if my feet were uncovered, he would grab them and suck me under the bed. Sad to say, but to this day I can NOT sleep without covers over my feet. Even if it's 12o degrees, you better believe there is at least a sheet over my feet!!!
3. My dad's name is Michael Myers-Of course everyone thought it was spooky!
4. I am a licensed Scuba Diver.
5. After high school, I tried college for a semester and it wasn't my thing at the time. So, a girlfriend and I worked really hard over the summer and saved up to go on a cross-country trip. I couldn't believe my dad and Janet let me go, but they supported it.
I saved up $3,000 and we went from Indiana to Colorado, to Wyoming, Idaho, Washington, Vancouver, Oregon, California, (Day trip to Mexico), Arizona and then home. It was a pretty amazing trip! We were gone a little over 2 months. I learned a lot about life.
6. After all that excitement, I still wasn't ready to be a normal 20 year old going to college and having a steady job. So instead, I took a job on the Delta Queen Steamboat out of New Orleans. A girlfriend of mine gave me a book called, "Jobs in Paradise". Right! More like jobs in H---!!! It was horrible!
We worked 14-16 hour days serving the rich cruise people and we lived on the very bottom of the boat in very close quarters, eating left overs from the day or two before(the wilted lettuce and stale bread were my favorite).
Anyways, I was a total sissy and couldn't handle it. I literally lasted a week. My parents were on a chartered scuba diving trip somewhere in the middle of who-knows-where sea. So my loving step-grandparents graciously bought me a plane ticket home and I quit. This is pathetic, but I lasted one week! Oh, and did I mention the rats & roaches:) Ahhh...memories.
7. Today is my 6th birthday as a Christian!
8. And last, but not least...my first job was at White Castle! That's right, White Castle...Yuck!!!
Manda have you been tagged? I didn't see 8 Interesting Facts on your blog?!?

Mom just told me the other day about you being born in Okinawa. I can't believe I never knew that. Brian must feel closer to Mr. Miyagi now more than ever. I once watched a cartoon episode of Ghost Busters where the boogie man was in the closet. And of course Poltergeist. I can sleep with my toes uncovered, but I can't have any body part hanging off the side or end of the bed. And I can't stand beside my bed with the lights off, I have to jump up on the bed, for fear of being pulled under. Hahahaha.. HIllarious what retarded movies can do to you. Your cruise ship story is also hillarious. I don't think I could have lasted more than a week either under those circumstances. Good grief!!
Did you notice that I just edited? I forgot to tag someone, so I added a tag and changed a couple of things. Yeah, I think he does feel closer to Mr. Miyagi...haha! I can't remember exactly what got me going on the boogie man thing, but I watched Poltergeist and many other things I shouldn't have, so I'm sure that's it! Yeah, don't get a job on a cruise ship:-)
Wow...you had great ones. Very interesting! Thanks for sharing. (And no, I hadn't been tagged.)
Ok, did I misread Beth's original post about "8 interesting facts"? Did it say 8 interesting "life adventures"? :-) Thanks for the good stories!
Come on Meg, it's a fact that I went on a cross country trip, it's a fact that I worked on Delta Queen, etc, etc!! She said interesting, so you have to add detail:)
